Character classes
The characters that compose your team can each belong to one of three classes:
Warrior
White Mage
Black Mage
A class can be seen as a specialization, it determines some of the things your characters can and cannot do. It also impacts the starting stats of a character. When buying new characters in the shop, make sure to keep their class in mind to achieve the right team composition!
Warriors
Warriors specialize in physical, close-range combat. They cannot learn spells but have access to more powerful equipment and start with more HP, ATK ans DEF.
Warriors have a smaller range of possible actions but tend to last longer on the field and can reliably inflict damage.
White Mages
White Mages can use spells and provide tactical utility on the battlefield, from beneficial spells such as healing, to harmful spells that can inflict status effects on the enemy characters such as poisoning or silencing. They have access to Mages equipment and start with higher MP, SP. ATK and SP. DEF.
White Mages and mages in general are more fragile, but armed with the right spells they can really help take control of the situation on the battlefield or flip a non-favorable outcome.
Black Mages
Black Mages can learn different spells than the White Mages, typically aggressive, damage-dealing elemental spells. They have access to Mages equipment and start with higher MP, SP. ATK and SP. DEF. Properly used, Black Mages can take the role of heavy artillery on the battlefield, provided that they can be protected well.
